Youtube Shorts Not Getting Views Anymore

YouTube Shorts is no longer the most viewed video format nowadays. With the launch of ‘Reels’, it seems that users are opting for the new format over the old. - YouTube Shorts, first introduced in India, gave content creators 15-second video options and allowed them to add filters, music, and other editing tools. It not only allowed users to share what was happening in their lives but to also present and entertain audiences with creative content.
What was once an exciting addition and was gaining popularity, YouTube Shorts is now being overshadowed by the videos from the feature ‘Reels’ from competitor of YouTube, Instagram.
Reels, is a feature very similar to YouTube Shorts with 30-second video options. Apart from music and other video editing tools, the main difference between both formats is that users are given new ‘effects’ to make their videos more unique.
Also, with Instagram Reels, users can access the feature on a website, whereas with YouTube Shorts, users must have the YouTube app. This can be seen as a disadvantage to YouTube Shorts, making it a bit inconvenient for users who may not have the app.
Not only this, it is seen that when YouTube Shorts are uploaded they are not seen on the homepage of YouTube but videos from Reels are given more preference on the app.
Overall, it seems that YouTube Shorts is not being given the love that it once got by the platform. Content creators are now shying away from posting their content on this format and are rather opting for the Reels feature. With the player not promoting YouTube Shorts, it is unclear whether this format is going to remain for long or be submerged into the background.

Content creators should look up the advantages of each format and carefully decide which format to use in order to get the most views.
They should remember that even though YouTube Shorts may not be getting as much views as before, everything takes time and hard work and this situation could turn around their favor sooner or later.
